Death Cafe

“Awareness of death is the very bedrock of the path. Until you have developed this awareness, all other practices are useless.” - the Dalai Lama

Here at The Kali Collective we are proud to offer a sacred space for sharing Yoga wisdom. In the yoga tradition by deeply acknowledging the reality of death freedom can be found.

Here at The Kali Collective we want to gather in community with the seekers and the curious to deepen into life. We acknowledge that it is a normal and human tendency that most people tend towards abhinivesha, the act of clinging to life. We cling because of a fear of the unknown, the transition, of fear, pain and suffering. Instead we busy ourselves with gathering possessions (material and spiritual) to distract. So to challenge and confront this we offer a meditative space for discussion.

Here at The Kali Collective our guiding vision is the fierce and profound energy of Kali. Kali is the Goddess of time, change, and destruction. She is the energy current inside of you that is wild, empowered and all loving. This energy is deeply involved in the life/death /life cycle to keep you growing and transforming, as does the rich practice of yoga.

It seems only natural that Death Cafe has found a home here at The Kali Collective. Death cafe is a social franchise meaning that people who sign up to the Death Cafes guide and principles can use the name Death Cafe. A Death Cafe’s objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’. This is a monthly group directed discussion with no agenda or objectives other than to simply offer an open space for those curious to talk about all aspects of death. This is about discussion rather than grief counselling or support sessions.
