Why Join The Kali Collective?

Be Here.

Scotland is home to a variety of excellent Yoga studios, with Glasgow being one of the best cities for spaces to practice, but I want to tell you why The Kali Collective may be the the yoga studio for your practice.

It only feels right to start with why we are called The Kali Collective. Our name and studio space honour the hindu Goddess Kali, the studio is a physical expression of her energies; she is a force for change, transformation, evolution and dissolving of the ego and its limitations. Kali is the Goddess of time, change and destruction. She is the energy current inside of you that is wild, empowered and all loving. Her energy is deeply involved in the life/death/life cycle that keeps us growing and transforming, as does the rich practice of yoga.

The studio breaks from the traditional image of a purely light & soft space, you are instead met with a dark and gothy aesthetic in our decompression zone as you enter. While we love the light too, the space is dedicated to the balanced nature of Kali, where the soft colours and green plant life are also contrasted with dark bold colours; images of snakes & skulls; and iconography of Kali herself in her full ferocity. The space makes nods to honouring the darkness, exploring mystery and the balanced spectrum of life. You can also see the visual vibe of our studio space reflected in the aesthetic of our Instagram profile

We have created a community rooted in radical authenticity, inviting all who step through our doors to practice in a way that feels authentic to them. We have a family of knowledgable & experiences teachers who are here to offer guidance, each of them showing up and leading practices in the way that is aligned with who they are. Our talented teachers have 3000+ hours of training collectively, with each member bringing their own passions & skills to the classes. While some of our teachers may focus more on anatomy, others mythology or specialties such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, we can guarantee you will be led by a team of people who believe wholeheartedly in the power and tradition of yoga.

Our classes are suitable for both seasoned practitioners and new students who are looking for beginners yoga. It is a place of calm, for every body to feel reset. You can leave the stress of work, or the anxiety of city life, at the door and start fresh on your mat.

So, who are you? And why do you practice? These are important questions to ask yourself if you are considering practicing here. Do you want to delve into the mysteries and unknowns with us? At The Kali Collective we are practicing yoga to discover something deeper; about ourselves, about our relationship to one-another, about it all. We are home to a community of alternative and passionate people, with nonconformity as our power, we lovingly call ourselves the freaks and geeks of the yoga scene in Glasgow - “We are the weirdos, mister”.

This is a space to just be. We believe in providing a safe environment where everyone is welcome to show up as they are, with no expectation of how your body or your practice “should be”. We are ever-changing, transforming and imperfect beings and here at The Kali Collective our intention is to create the space for you to explore the Kali within and experience the transformations as they unfold.

We invite you to be here.
