Alexandra Shrinivas

Alexandra Shrinivas is a musician, educator and writer based in Glasgow. In 2011 she graduated from Aberdeen University aspiring to teach rudiments of vocal technique, stage craft and returned to Ayrshire to establish her teaching business, where she has now cultivated a community of young singers and violinists for over 10 years. Originally pursuing a career as an opera singer as part of the Scots opera project gave her the opportunity to work with a community chorus and now her interests lie in creating similar communities that provide opportunities for everyone at any level or age to take part in the meditative benefits of singing as a group. She has currently lead a music learning initiative with charity Urban Roots, to bring music into their community spaces around Glasgow by providing music lessons for children and a choir, and also runs a ceramic instrument making course at artspace g41. She believes in music being accessible to everyone, and has been creating a beautiful singing and musical community in Kali collective over the last year.

  • Alex teaches monthly Kirtans at Kali on the last Sunday of the month.
