The Essential Role of Restorative Immersion in Yoga Practice

In the fast-paced world we live in, the need for relaxation and rejuvenation has never been more critical. “This immersion is an opportunity to just be. Throughout our time together, you will have the opportunity to slow down, embrace silence, and become curious about what arises when we take stimulus out of the equation. 


How often do we take time to do the opposite in a world that is becoming more yang in nature? To rest, recover, nourish, be still, and notice the beauty of stripping back. 


As we shift more into our parasympathetic state (rest & digest), this is an opportunity to allow the whispers of intuition to come forward. The postures, breathing techniques and mental prompts throughout practice are all to slow down and notice the power of sometimes, less being more.”

It is, at heart, a therapeutic practice designed to induce deep relaxation and healing. Poses are held for longer durations, often supported by props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks, allowing the body to fully surrender into each posture. During these immersions, you can expect elongated postures with a strong emphasis on deep rest. You will be encouraged to find a sacred place in your home to nest and feel into the online web of connection through community. Pranayama, themes and the use of props will also be explored. For practice, you will need 2 blocks, a strap, a bolster, a selection of pillows, a chair, and wall space. This will be guided by Emily.
